Minecraft Education

Our 6th Grade Minecraft Education Team members were invited to compete in the semi-finals again this year! The team lead by Ms. Larsen competed on Saturday, February 7, 2026. They entered the competition with a design for transforming Pier 6 at MADE Bush Terminal in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, into an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable public space that celebrates its industrial past, while serving the diverse needs of the community. While at Edison High School the students worked as a team to build a new area in Long Island City to attract community members. We are so proud of their hard work! 

Our school had the opportunity to participate in The NYC Minecraft Education Battle of The Boroughs. The competition asked students to create a Minecraft world showing a diverse community surrounding our school. The mission was to build structures that supported the theme of food diversity and culture in our communities. 

Ms. Larsen and her team were pleased to hear they made it to the second round of the competition. Along with four other teams they represented the borough of Queens in the Semi-Finals.  The team members included Joseph Caputo, Brian Segur, Jonathan Maguire, Salvatore Ameruoso, and Lucas Vasquez. The members spent their Saturday morning on May 17th at Thomas Edison High School. We are very proud of the commitment our Middle School students showed during this special event.
